Curriculum and Classroom Updates for the Week of May 21-24, 2024
In Daily 5 this week, we will be working on reading comprehension under the ideas of the Daily CAFE. I will also be working with the students one on one in areas they feel they need help or guiding in ways in which they can grow. I am so happy they have been very excited for this conference time.
In math, we will be creating our own situations in which we can conduct a survey or questionnaire and then create the output of the data we have received.
In writing, we are working on completing our decade newspapers. I am so proud of the work they have done so far. I was also excited to see how open-minded they were about the various time frames they chose through history. A few even mentioned how much they learned researching their specific time period.
I am hoping we will soon be able to have a class trip to The Fluvarium as their current program coincides with our final UOI. I know the students will be very excited as they have had very few trips over the past few years.
I have also sent out the permission slip for the cleanup at Topsail Beach. If you want your child to attend please remember to send the permission slip in when possible.
The students are also very excited to be working on the ideas behind the physical properties of matter and how changes come about. I expect to have several projects ongoing in the science lab as well. I know the kids will be very happy about this. Let the fun begin!
